Car·ri·ón \ˌkär-ē-ˈōn\ Daniel A. (1850–1885), Peruvian medical student. Carrión allowed himself to be inoculated with the blood of a patient suffering from verruga peruana. He died with the symptoms of Oroya fever, thereby proving the association between the two. Bartonellosis was named Carrión's disease in his honor by the Peruvian physician Ernesto Odriozola.
